Meg’s Cheddar is Better Wafflewiches
Ingredients
- 4 small slices wheat bread
- 2 teaspoons soft butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup shredded Omega Farms Mild Cheddar Cheese (2 oz.)
- Optional: 2 teaspoons apple butter, 1 tablespoon crumbled bacon
Instructions
- Spread a little butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Put the bread butter side down on a cutting board and sprinkle half the cheese on each bread slice. Add scoop of apple butter or crumbled bacon, if desired.
- Put the remaining bread on top (butter side up).
- Put in a hot waffle or Belgian waffle maker and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes or until bread is toasty and cheese is melted. Serve warm.
Variation : Holiday Sandwiches
- Using a cookie cutter, press hard on 2 bread slices to cut a holiday shape in the bread.
- Spread a little butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Put the uncut bread butter side down on a small baking tray and put the cheese on top. Add scoop of apple butter, if desired.
- Put the cut out bread slice on top.
- Bake in the oven or toaster oven at 400°F for 5 minutes or until bread is toasty and cheese is melted. Serve warm.
